Qatar Embassy in Sweden Celebrates Qatar National Day

The Embassy of the State of Qatar in the Kingdom of Sweden hosted a reception in Stockholm to celebrate Qatar National Day, presided over by Her Excellency Mrs. Nadya  Ahmad Al Shaibi, Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Sweden, who welcomed the attendees and congratulatory guests on this national occasion.

The event was attended by a number of senior officials and prominent figures from the Swedish government, in addition to heads of accredited diplomatic missions and diplomatic corps representatives, as well as entrepreneurs and directors of think tanks and research centers.

In her speech, Her Excellency the Ambassador welcomed the attendees and recalled the efforts of the founder Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Thani in unifying the State of Qatar in 1878, emphasizing the significance of this day in the country’s history. She also highlighted the strong bilateral relations between Qatar and Sweden, which mark their 50th anniversary this year, and praised the historic visit of His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of Qatar, which contributed to strengthening cooperation between the two countries in areas such as mediation, space, international development, innovation, and defense.

The Ambassador reaffirmed Qatar’s support for humanitarian causes, expressing concern over the suffering of peoples in Palestine, Sudan, and Ukraine, and renewed the country’s commitment to justice, peace, and human dignity. She also emphasized Qatar’s desire to further enhance its partnership with Sweden to achieve a future based on mutual respect and shared values.

Swedish officials also delivered speeches during the event, praising the strong bilateral relations between the two countries, expressing their appreciation for the progress witnessed in Qatar, and highlighting the achievements in line with Qatar National Vision 2030, as well as promoting bilateral and multilateral cooperation in sustainable development and global peace.

The reception also featured an art exhibition presented by a number of Qatari artists, showcasing works that reflect Qatari heritage and culture, alongside competitions organized by Qatar Airways, adding a distinctive touch to the celebration.
